Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then found numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking representative stated the attack left him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
